Five years ago, after doing staging and interior decorating, Melanie decided to follow in the footsteps of her father, who was a realtor in Fredericksburg, VA. He knew it would be a perfect fit for her, and he was right! Receiving a Bachelor’s of Science from University of Delaware, an Associate’s degree in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York, and an Interior Design Certificate from University of Richmond – Melanie's expertise is an asset to the Rick Cox Realty Group. Her favorite part of the business is that every day is different, and every transaction is a learning experience! She looks forward to coming to work and truly enjoys her job!
As a resident of Midlothian & Moseley for 13 years, Melanie offers a wealth of knowledge about what the community has to offer perspective residents. She has worked extensively in the east side of Richmond, having sold homes in Powhatan, Chester, and the West End. Melanie enjoys the area and loves the small town feel of the Southside, as you can never go anywhere without running into someone you know! She believes that the Southside is the right place to raise her kids, feeling that the area has a true community of people through school, sports, and her church. Her extended family has relocated to the area as well, because they recognized that it is truly a wonderful place to live! Her family has especially enjoyed “Life on the Lake” in Woodlake where they have spent a lot of time in the Summer kayaking and Pontoon Boating on the reservoir!
Melanie and her family are active members of Woodlake United Methodist Church. She volunteers at Mt. Moriah where her church makes and serves food there once a month. Her son is enrolled at Tomahawk Middle and her daughter is currently attending Cosby High School where she is active in the school’s Show Choir & Dance Team. She is also involved in school activities through the Woolridge Athletic Association.
When it comes to Real Estate, Melanie doesn’t believe in handing off her clients after writing a contract. She is always available (put her on speed dial!), will always respond, and will follow through on any issues that come up until the transaction is closed, and even afterwards if that is necessary. Melanie is not a high-pressure salesperson as her main goal is to have a happy client and successful transaction in the end, no matter how long that takes!
