Happy National Ice Cream Day! As the heat wave continues, National Ice Cream day could not have come at a better time. This holiday was established by President Ronald Reagan in 1984 kicking it off with an ice cream party on Capitol Hill. 

 Ice Cream is such a popular treat that 26 liters of ice cream are consumed by the average American each year with a total spend of $20 billion on ice cream purchases from American consumers. We also are the top producers of ice cream in the world, producing over 898 million gallons per year.

I had a client tell me recently that their decorator had some specific rules with regard to the furniture in their home. Particularly that all the wood grains in a room should match. I found it interesting, particularly because I think style and décor are really very personal to the individual.

Although I can agree that there are some decorating options that are not “on trend”, I truly believe that there needs to be a balance between function, current trends and enjoyment of your surroundings that make up the décor or home style you choose.
