October Festival Guide 2019

Richmond is rich with culture and festivals celebrating the diversity of the area. Many types of festivals are celebrated each month with activities for all ages. As we move into October, Richmond continues to host a variety of events.

  • Richmond Folk Festival - Browns Island- 10/11-13

Bringing over 200,000 people together last year. Enjoy music, dance, crafts and delicious food!



  • 16th Louisa County Fall Harvest Festival – Walton Park – 10/12

Get the entire family together to enjoy crafts, face painting, hayrides, and lots of activities.



  • Richmond Mac & Cheese Festival – Richmond Raceway Complex – 10/12

Indulge in over 30 Mac & Cheese recipes with wine, cider, beer and live music.



  • Magnificent Midlothian Food Festival -  Westchester Commons – 10/12

Live music and local restaurant cuisine with proceeds benefiting local charities.



  • Taste of Brunswick Festival and Cook-Off – Lawrenceville/Brunswick Municipal Airport – 10/12

Take part in the stew cook off, while also enjoying a petting zoo, Civil War re-enactments, car shows, and local vendors.



  • Fall Festival – Riverwalk Landing Yorktown- 10/12

Travel outside of Richmond and take the entire family to the historical site of Yorktown to enjoy caramel apples, a variety of vendors, hayrides and so much more.



  • Gourds, Goblets, and Ghouls Festival – Hanover Vegetable Farm – 10/12-13

Live music, wineries, beer garden, vendors, hay rides and pumpkin picking with a Haunted House for when it gets dark.



  • 2nd Annual Cambodian Food Festival – Battlefield Park – 10/12-13

Try traditional Cambodian dishes and learn more about the culture through music, traditional clothing and demonstrations.



  • Kickin Chicken WingFest – East Franklin Street- 10/13

Wings, Beer, and Fall Celebrations with donations going towards Richmond’s parks and active spaces.



  • Dominion Energy Charity Classic – The Country Club of Virginia – 10/17-20

Gather round to enjoy watching some of the best golfers with a post-concert celebration afterward.



  • SpookieFUN Fest – Pole Green Park – 10/18

Bring your best Halloween costume to collect some yummy treats and partake in games, jump in the bouncy houses, and try some crafts.



  • Hanover AutumnFest -  Hanover Tavern – 10/19

Family fun featuring free admission with wine, beer, live music and fall activities.



  • 2nd Annual RVA Booklovers’ Festival – Jefferson Park- 10/19

Featuring published authors and poets and a used book drive to help you discover your next favorite read.



  • Midlothian Village Day Festival -  Midlothian Middle School – 10/19

Entertainment for the entire family featuring food vendors, crafts, games, inflatables, etc.



  • Virginia Czech and Slovak Folklife Festival – Prince George Regional Heritage Center – 10/19

Dive into the rich culture through dancing, music, arts and crafts, and food.



  • Scott’s Addition Pumpkin Festival – Scotts Addition – 10/19

A costume contest featuring live music, beverages, and food to fit the season.



  • Goblins and Gourds -  Lewis Botanical Garden – 10/20

Enjoy the harvest celebration in the gardens with live music, pumpkin painting, storytelling and more.



  • Apples & Ales -  Agecroft Hall & Gardens – 10/20

An evening filled with champagne, sparkling wine and food trucks while enjoying the gardens.



  • Fall Richmond Restaurant Week -  Various Restaurants – 10/21-27

A week-long event featuring three course meals of each restaurants popular picks and best dishes. A portion of the proceeds will be going towards FeedMore.



  • Haunted Henricus: Things that Go Bump in the Night – Henricus Historical Park – 10/25-26

Sit by the fireside to be taken back to the times of the early colonists and the spooky stories they shared with each other.



  • Roar & Soar: Car & Aircraft Show – New Kent County Airport – 10/26

Hundreds of show cars, motorcycles, and airplanes to view with great food/drink on site.



  • Innsbrook’s Pumpkin Palooza – Innsbrook Pavilion – 10/26

A family friendly event with a pumpkin toss, costume parade, battle of the bands and so much more!



  • Oktoberfest -  Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden – 10/26

Dive into German culture and enjoy live music, lawn games, and plenty of food and local beer.



  • Fancy Me Mad – Historic St. John’s Church – 10/26

Graveyard Tours and a special appearance from Edgar Allan Poe to read his most famous tales.



  • Central Virginia Celtic Festival & Highland Games – Richmond Raceway Complex – 10/26-27

View the Gaelic song, ax throwing, piping and drumming, rugby, and highland dancing competitions; while shopping through vendors and eating traditional Celtic food.



  • Stew & Stout – Dorey Park- 10/27

Taste a variety of stews from vegetarian, gumbo and many others while also supporting Richmond’s Parks and Public Spaces.
